FPC
Our main search engine (accessible from our home page and all major pages as well as many other web sites) is a cross breed between a standard meta search engine and a PPC search engine similar to Overture. However, unlike PPC (pay per click) you don't pay a penny for this service, which is why it is called Free Per Click (FPC).

You might think the FPC system is over kill for an adult niche like watersports, but believe it or not, if used correctly, it is very effective, and will generate a lot of fresh, high converting traffic for you! A lot of webmasters who submit their sites to us do so through our "pee spider", and only get a standard listing, and all though they get traffic from us, they get a lot less than they would through FPC!

PeeSearch is a large, busy site with a high traffic turnover. About 50-60% of our traffic is repeat visitors. 90% of our traffic leaves this site to go to other sites listed here, and about 70% of that traffic leaves through the FPC listings. Which means that for a watersports site, a FPC listing here is usually more productive than a standard listing at Google!

FPC works like this... you create an account which is setup instantly. Next you login to your new account administration panel which you will notice is full of useful features (more about that later). You will also notice that your new account has been given a starting balance, so you can get started right away.

One of the first things you will want to do when you have your new account is get your sites listed. You can list as many sites (of your own) as you like through your admin panel, and you bid for the keywords that you want your site to appear under. You can have as many keywords as you like for each site. Choosing your keywords is aided by our keyword popularity search, and the top 50 most popular keywords are listed there too.

Each time someone does a search using the keywords you bid for, your site will be listed towards the top of the results, above the standard listings. If you are the highest bidder for that keyword, your site will be listed right at the top!

If someone clicks on your listing, the amount that you bid for that keyword will be deducted from your account, but don't worry, there is a cunning way of keeping your account topped up with funds, and it won't cost a thing!

In order to keep your FPC account topped up with funds to use for paying for your keyword bids, we have an affiliate box which you can place on your web site, and earn your bid funds. Of course, these funds are not exchangeable for cash. They can only be used with your FPC account. At the time of writing (25/7/2003) the payouts are thus.... If someone does a search using your affiliate box, you earn $0.02. If they click on a FPC listing, you earn a further $0.05. And if you send us another webmaster who joins the FPC system, you earn a massive $0.25. Now with bids starting from just $0.01 per click, you can earn your self 32 visitors from PeeSearch, for just sending one visitor who does a search and clicks on an FPC listing, and sending one webmaster who signs up for FPC. I am crap at math, but I think that works out at a ratio of 17:1 :)

Included in your admin panel are a variety of real time stats and reports, so you can track the performance of your listings, and your account balance any time you like, and make any changes to your listings and keyword bids to optimize performance.

If this sounds complicated and seems like too much effort, I urge you to just try it out. You have nothing to loose. It costs nothing, and I am sure that you will be very pleased with the results! I have a couple of sites listed through the FPC system my self, and I can honestly say that a lot of the revenue those sites generate comes through the FPC listings. It's a question of using the system to it's full advantage, but I am right here to advise you if you get stuck.

There are currently 17 webmasters with an FPC account, and there are many 100s that just have a standard listing. To get a standard listing, they have to put our search box on their site as a reciprocal link any way, but they could be earning bid funds with a search box that looks exactly the same, but earning them many, many more hits, with a much higher level of targeting and conversion. That's up to them, but it's kind of crazy when you think that all those standard search boxes on all those sites, are sending people into the search engine, most of which will leave through an FPC listing. All the more higher quality traffic for the FPC webmasters!

Any way that's enough dribble from me. Go and give it a go. It's not complicated, but if you run into a problem just give me a shout via email, ICQ (details in your admin panel) or moan at me in the ghost town that is the watersports webmaster's forum (well it seemed like a good idea at the time!)

A few quick tips to get you started - The FPC system works best for sites that specialize in a particular area of the watersports fetish. It works for free sites and pay sites. Bid for the most relevant keywords, and not irrelevant ones as you will just waste your funds on people who click on your listing then piss off somewhere else! Your title and description should be informative and accurate. If you run a pay site do not be afraid to include your subscription fee in the description. It's recommended that you do as this ensures that people don't waste your funds, and those who do click on your listing are the ones whose credit cards slip out of their pockets as soon as they get a stiffy! Finally, to get listed in this directory also, bid for a keyword that is featured in the directory. Look at the directory pages and you will be able to see what the keywords are ;)
